Beyond Diets in Midlife: When Hormones, Stress, and Food Patterns Collide in Perimenopause and Menopause

April 28 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Many women reach midlife and notice that their relationship with food quietly changes. Eating feels more charged. Old rules get louder. You may find yourself grazing at night, eating past fullness, or feeling out of control around certain foods, often followed by guilt or shame, even though you haven’t done anything wrong.

During perimenopause and menopause, hormonal and metabolic shifts can affect appetite, mood, sleep, and body composition. These biological changes can also amplify emotional eating, binge eating, and compulsive overeating patterns, especially when combined with stress, identity shifts, and years of diet-culture conditioning.

This Konenki conversation brings together three perspectives rarely held in the same space:

  • the biology of midlife hormonal and metabolic change

  • the psychological and cultural forces shaping food and self-blame

  • the nervous-system and emotional patterns behind binge eating and compulsive overeating

This is not a diet talk or a willpower conversation. It is an informed, compassionate discussion designed to help women understand what is happening, reduce shame, and begin interrupting cycles with food without restriction or another plan that leaves you feeling broken.

You will leave with clearer language for your experience, greater self-trust, and a steadier path forward with food and your body.

What You Will Gain

  • Understanding how hormonal and metabolic changes influence appetite, cravings, and weight shifts

  • Insight into why binge eating and compulsive overeating can intensify during midlife

  • Language that separates biology from self-blame

  • A clearer understanding of emotional eating and food noise

  • Practical ways to step out of shame cycles without returning to dieting

  • Notice eating feels harder to regulate than it once did
  • Experience binge eating, compulsive overeating, grazing, or night eating
  • Feel guilt, secrecy, or harsh self-talk around food
  • Feel caught between wanting health and fearing another cycle of restriction
  • Want understanding and relief; not another plan or rule set
  • No diagnosis is required to attend.
