How Konenki is redefining menopause support with a diverse network of providers
A Gen X Wake-Up Call
When I look at the exploding menopause care space, I celebrate it as a sign of this generation’s refusal to stay silent. Gen X women, in particular, have reached this stage of life with a clear-eyed sense of how often we’ve been overlooked. We were the latchkey kids who raised ourselves while our parents worked. We entered the workforce during a recession and may never reap the same economic benefits our parents enjoyed. Many of us poured the next two decades into our families, determined to give them the attention and stability we didn’t have ourselves.
And now, we are drawing a line.
It’s not only that we want solutions — we want care delivered in a respectful, personalized context. We want equal resources devoted to researching what is actually happening to our bodies during this transition, and how to best navigate it with our dignity intact. We want answers that aren’t decades late, and options that don’t force us to choose between our health and our values. We want menopause research funded at levels that reflect its impact — not only on par with other life stages, but also in proportion to the billions invested in men’s health issues each year.
(Today, less than 15% of NIH funding goes toward women’s health, and menopause receives only a sliver of that. It’s time to close that gap so evidence-based innovations, prevention strategies, and supportive therapies are available to every woman, not just the few who can access them privately.)
We are ready for care that reflects the truth of our lives — care that sees menopause not as an ending, but as a natural and transformative stage of life.
The Bright Side of the Menopause Boom
What excites me most about this moment is that the boom in menopause care is happening alongside an unprecedented expansion of research. We now have more robust data to guide treatment decisions, improve safety, personalize interventions, and address the specific health risks and opportunities of midlife. At the same time, science is beginning to explain why some therapies long considered “alternative” have brought real relief to women for generations.
The best menopause care doesn’t draw a hard line between traditional and alternative; it embraces both, guided by evidence, lived experience, and respect for women’s autonomy.
But There Are Real Risks
With rapid growth comes responsibility. My concerns mirror what many women are noticing:
- Over-commercialization that puts profit before people.
- Inconsistent quality across menopause providers.
- Over-medicalization that treats menopause as a pathology rather than a natural transition.
My Non-Negotiables for Menopause Care
From my perspective, the future of menopause care must be built on:
- Provider competence — Women deserve experts who know their craft and listen deeply.
- An integrative approach — The best solutions honor both traditional medicine and holistic wisdom.
- Accessibility for all — Quality care shouldn’t be a luxury for the few.
How Konenki Fits In
At Konenki, these non-negotiables are not just ideals — they’re the foundation of everything we do.
- Breadth of expertise: Our provider network spans traditional clinicians, integrative practitioners, coaches, therapists, photographers (yes, photographers!), and specialists in every corner of women’s well-being.
- High standards: Every provider goes through a purposely rigorous vetting process to ensure women can access consistently qualified, competent, and caring professionals.
- Free access for women: Our informative events and Wingwoman Concierge services are free to women, making quality introductions and education accessible without barriers.
- Holistic ecosystem: We create connections that reflect the whole woman — her health, relationships, work, identity, and joy.
What the Beatles Can Teach Us About Menopause Care
When I think about the future of menopause care, I think of a song — specifically, the Beatles’ Yesterday, the most-covered song in history. The melody is timeless, but every artist brings their own voice, tempo, and emotion. Each version lands differently because of the musician interpreting it and the listener receiving it.
Menopause care should be the same. The core truth remains, but the way it’s delivered must reflect a woman’s personal needs, values, and lived experience. May the individual versions of the songs we sing about menopause reflect our unique essences — not be forced to conform to one prescribed way of singing them.
A Vision for Ten Years From Now
My hope is that ten years from now, women everywhere will feel seen, supported, and celebrated. That menopause will be part of open, stigma-free conversations in homes, workplaces, and communities. And that the ripple effect of thriving women will strengthen families, workplaces, and society as a whole.
Because when women thrive, everyone benefits.
And just for fun — what’s your favorite covered version of Yesterday? I’d love to hear which one lands most beautifully in your ears.
