Money, Presence, and the Power to Begin: A New Conversation for Midlife Women

By Paula Brown, Founder, Konenki Menopause Solutions

At Konenki, we believe menopause is not just a medical event. It’s a powerful threshold that touches every area of your life: your energy, your relationships, your choices, and yes, your money.

That’s why we recently came together for Money, Presence, and the Power to Begin. It was a warm, thoughtful gathering where we explored how financial well-being plays an essential role in your journey toward health, wholeness, and personal power in midlife.

Why Money Matters in Menopause

When you’re navigating hot flashes, sleep disruptions, mood swings, or shifting identities, it’s easy to push financial concerns to the background. But money is woven into everything. It shapes your stress levels, your decisions, and your sense of agency and safety during this time of profound transition.

I know this personally. During my own midlife health crisis, I felt completely lost. I was struggling to decipher confusing symptoms and facing misdiagnoses, all while worrying about the financial toll of every next step. That experience became the seed of Konenki, a space where women can find trusted, compassionate support as they navigate menopause and midlife on their own terms.

The Power of Presence

Mary Morrison, a gifted practitioner who helps women heal and lead with authenticity, opened our event with a centering practice. She reminded us that presence – being fully in our bodies, without judgment – has the power to transform everything. Money is no exception.

She invited us to notice what happens in our bodies when we think about finances. Do we tense? Do we hold our breath? Presence allows us to move from fear into clarity and to act with intention rather than urgency.

Mindfulness Meets Money Management

Following Mary’s grounding practice, financial coach Cathy Lemire shared her own midlife story of navigating money during perimenopause. Cathy offered a deeply relatable insight: avoiding money doesn’t mean we’re irresponsible – it often means we’re overwhelmed.

She introduced a refreshing, compassionate approach to financial well-being. By aligning our money habits with our energy and inner rhythms, and by taking small, mindful steps, we can reclaim a sense of control and peace in our financial lives.

The Mind-Body-Money Connection

One of the most powerful themes that emerged was the deep interconnection between financial stress and physical health. Mary spoke to how struggles in one area of life often reflect challenges in another. Cathy noted how reducing money-related stress can help lower cortisol levels and ease menopause symptoms.

I shared my own moment of realization: how my body softened when I shifted from thoughts of financial fear to visions of abundance.

This mind-body-money connection isn’t a luxury – it’s a roadmap. Tending to our finances with presence is an act of self-care, wholeness, and respect for our evolving selves.

A Feminine Approach to Money

Rather than pushing ourselves to fix everything at once, Mary and Cathy encouraged a layered, feminine approach. One small shift at a time. One conscious choice. One moment of grounded presence.

This isn’t just about money. It’s about reclaiming dignity, agency, and aligning your outer life with the deep wisdom emerging from within.
